INP&LDI Random Drill Neutron Porosity Logging Tool
Tools
The INP Neutron Logging Instrument is designed to emit fast neutrons into the formation by means of a neutron source mounted on the instrument. The instrument detector measures the number of thermal neutrons that reach the instrument after attenuation in the formation, determines the hydrogen index of the formation , and calculates the porosity of the formation. The instrument adopts Am-241/Be neutron source and HE3 tube detector , and is installed with ultrasonic transducer for well diameter detection and compensation calculation. The LDI density logger uses a Cs-137 gamma source installed on the instrument to emit gamma rays into the formation . The detector of the instrument measures the number of gamma photons that reach the instrument after attenuation in the formation, and then calculates the formation density and the photoelectric absorption index. The instrument utilizes a Cs-137 gamma source and a NaI crystal detector with a 16-sector azimuthal imaging capability and an ultrasonic transducer for gap detection and compensation calculations.
